TCO Certified Tablets 
is the world’s first sustainability certification exclusively for tablet PCs. Based on stakeholder feedback and our increased focus on socially responsible manufacturing, TCO Development has published an updated version of the TCO Certified tablets criteria – TCO Certified Tablets 2. The major changes involve the removal of the emissions requirement and an enhancement of the socially responsible manufacturing criteria, to be in line with other TCO Certified product categories.

Criteria in TCO Certified Tablets 2 also cover environmental attributes, ergonomics and energy efficiency, among other key criteria.

Eligible tablets are defined as “a complete mobile computer, larger than a mobile phone integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily touch screen operated, using an onscreen virtual keyboard or a digital pen instead of a physical keyboard”. TCO Certified Tablets criteria apply to tablets with a display size greater than four inches, and also exclude mobile phone devices that are designed to be held against the ear.
